Mess Management Monday #4: Craft Room- Fabric Bolts

Last week I shared how I organize my fabrics in drawers.  But when I have over 3 yards of a fabric I like to keep them on the bolt.  When I put my plastic drawers under my shelves I ended up with a bit of space in between so I decided to store some of my bolts there.  I get the cardboard free from the fabric stores.  They usually have a ton, and they are just throwing them away.  I always ask first, and never take more than I need.

I usually buy most of these fabrics 10 yards at a time, so I eventually took over the bottom shelf as well. As for the minky, I only buy about 5 yards at a time, but it has so much bulk to it, that anything over 3 yards is impossible to fold and keep neatly.  Most of this fabric is used for products I sell in my etsy shop (I've reduced my inventory of products until I can catch up a bit).

This last pile of gorgeous fabrics is from Michael Miller's Collection- Feeling Groovy and RoundAbout.  I fell in love with the purple and green fabrics, and when we found out we were having a boy it wasn't hard to convince Prince Charming to decorate his room in the blue and green version of this fabric.  Baby Brother is now 4 months old, and his room still isn't finished, but we are nearly done painting it!  I hope to start posting tutorials for some of the decor in his room very soon!

A Big Thanks to Mikki from Mom's Best Nest for awarding me the Versatile Blogger Award!

The rules after accepting the Versatile Blogger Award are:

So without further ado:

4.  I bought my first sewing machine from babysitting money when I was 12.
5.  I HATE washing dishes
6.  I sing to EVERY song on the radio whether I know the words or not!
7.  I played trombone for 8 years.

Now for my 15 blogs.  Since I have just recently gotten into blogging and reading blogs, this is pretty easy:

Featured Friday: Parties- Mad Hatter's Tea Party

I love how this Mad Hatter's Tea Party turned out.  The girls had so much fun!

The centerpiece is several oversized purple teacups stacked with their green saucers on top of a white cake plate.   I bought mini meringues and mini cupcakes, and stacked them around the centerpiece.  The butterflies and flamingos add a whimsical touch.  The purple "cake stands" are actually upside-down bowls and plates from the same set. I found the tea set and tea pot at World Market as well as the placemats and napkins.

I had a plated the girls lunch and set up a different table for their sweets.  I made raspberry scones, petit fours, and 4 varieties of cookies- Chocolate Chip, Butterscotch, White Chocolate Macadamia Nut, and Candy.

The invitations were a simple card design in coordinating purple and green.

This little tea set was my inspiration for the party and the invitations.  I love the miniature size, and I am sure it is something Alice might have found in Wonderland!

The printables used for this party are available in my etsy shop.  You can get them in the Purple and Green Color Scheme or Red and Black!
